Wee Worship October 2010 - Jesus Loves Zaccheus, Jesus Loves You!

Bible Verse (CD #5):  Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve to masters."

"Clap Your Hands"
Clap your hands everyone together,
Stomp your feet turn around.
Reach up high and bend down low
It's good to see you!  Hello!

"Way Up High in the Apple Tree"
Way up high in the apple tree, two red apples smiled at me.
So I shook that tree as hard as I could
and down came the apples.  Mmmmmmmmmmmm they were good!

"Five little leaves"
Five little leaves so bright and gay,
were dancing about on a tree one day.
The wind came blowing through the town,
and one little leaf came twirling down.

"Leaves are twirling"
Leaves are twirling, leaves are twirling.
All around, all around.
They are falling softly, they are falling softly.
To the ground, to the ground.

"Zacchaeus"
Zacchaeus was a wee little man and a wee little man was he
He climbed up in a sycamore tree, for the Lord he wanted to see
and as the Savior passed that way He looked up in the tree.
And Jesus said, "Zacchaeus, you come down!"
For I'm coming to your house today, For I'm coming to your house today!"

"Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves ________"
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Lincoln.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Noah.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves JJ.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Josie.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Addie.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Olivia.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Norah.
Jesus loves Zacchaeus, Jesus loves Kieran.

"Jesus Loves Me"
Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me.  The Bible tells me so.

"Tap Your Sticks"
Tap your sticks 1-2-3,
Tap your sticks just like me.
(rub, roll, build, click, drum)

"We Love Because He First Loved Us"

Craft:  Fingerprint Whale

I made a white whale on blue construction paper. You could also make a blue or grey whale on white construction paper.

Directions:

Body: Stamp your thumb in white paint and make a firm thumbprint sideways on the paper for the whale's body

Tail: Dip the tip of your pinkie in the white paint and make two light pinkie prints at the end of the thumbprint in a sort of a heart shape

Water: Dip your index finger in blue or green paint and make firm prints under the whale for the water

Spout: Use a toothpick, q-tip or small paint brush to draw a few lines above the whale as the spout

Extras:

Add some clouds and a sun to spruce up the picture

(gentle yellow finger print for the sun)

(three white finger prints in a row with two white finger prints in a row just above = cloud)

"God Made Me" Puzzle

Color-your-own creation puzzle! Easy craft for Creation preschool lessons.

http://biblekidsfunzone.com/

"God Made Me"  also share Psalm 139 with your child.
God made me,
I'm wonderful can't you see,
from my ears to my knees,
God made me.

God made me,
I'm wonderful can't you see,
from my head down to my toes,
God made me.

I asked Angela to write about what she had shared in church a few weeks ago.  Her words really moved me and I wanted to share them with the group.

"It is so easy to see God’s glory and peace in beautiful lakes and mountains, but how many of us actually see that kind of glory in a single person?  God’s glory is more prevalent in one person then in any of nature’s beauty because we bear the image of God!  This really convicted me because when I used to live near Rocky Mountain National Park, I would enjoy hiking in the mountains. I would find a quiet spot near the trail and just soak in the beauty and glory of God that was displayed there.  It was so easy to be at peace.  But if I’m in a busy store or street corner, I don’t take the time to really see people and look for God’s glory within them.  So I feel challenged to slow down and really pay more attention to people, and not just focus on where I need to be or do."

Bible Time.

I have been doing "Bible Time" with Norah and Kieran for about 7 months now.
It was very hard in the beginning.  Norah fought me with words like, "I don't want to read the Bible, I don't want to pray."  Her heart was very hard to the whole process.
One day I took out some M&Ms and told her that spending time with God is the sweetest thing that anyone can ever experience...that it was like eating M&Ms.  (Norah loves chocolate!)
I'm not suggesting that everyone should eat candy with their children right after breakfast, but God gave us so much grace and changed Norah's heart.

I am posting this because I pray that it might encourage you to start or continue with a time that is devoted to sharing Jesus with your child(ren).

This is how I structure our time together.

1.  PRAY
Before you read your Bible with your children pray for the Holy Spirit to be at work in your heart and your child’s hearts.

2.  CRAFT
I'm not sure why it works for us, but I usually get them outside right after we pray...using God's Creation...leaves, wind, soil, people.  We collect things or ideas and bring them inside to do a planned craft.

3. STORY/BIBLE
Here is a rhyme and song from Connie Dever* that you can chant or sing together before you read.
Bible Chant
"My heart can know and love God, He made everything I see.
Big, tall mountains, galloping horses, Every bird and bee.
God gave me the Bible to read, And hear of His mighty deeds!
But best of all, best of all, He sent Jesus, His Son, to save me!
The Bible, The Bible! How I love the Bible. It’s God’s Word! Yay"

Song
"Let’s gather together to worship God, Let’s gather together to worship God, Let’s gather together to worship God, Come gather here with me!" (Tune of "Mulberry Bush)

The Bible that our family uses.
We have been using "The Jesus Storybook Bible", written by Sally Lloyd-Jone and Illustrated by Jago

The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible.  It takes the whole Bible to tell this Story.  And at the center of the Story, there is a baby, the Child upon whom everything would depend.  From Noah to Moses to King David, every story whispers his name.  Jesus is like the missing piece in a puzzle-the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together.  "The Jesus Storybook Bible" invites children to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation-and at the center of their story, to

4.  SONG/VIDEO
I use songs to reinforce our lesson.  I find them singing the song throughout the week.  Music is a wonderful gift for getting God's Word to stick in our little ones' hearts and minds.
I occasionally will use a Youtube video to reinforce the lesson.  (i.e.  Norah and I watched clips on Youtube of "The Prince of Egypt" (God parting the Red Sea, Israelites being delivered and the plagues)

5.  CLOSING PRAYER
